๐Ÿ“ Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Can this be used for plastic pipes? What about Garden hoses?

A: This item is approved for both indoor and outdoor applications, which is why it can be used on both metal AND plastic pipes. For plastic pipe applications, you may apply aluminum tape over the circuit length of the heating cable to help disperse the heat onto the pipes.

However, this is not compatible for garden hoses because the hose is not permanently fixed. If you move your hoses around with self-regulating heat cables attached, you have a chance of damaging the cable, which will cause safety issues. Make sure your PP hoses are fixed before you install the heat cable, and also they are not susceptible to movement.

Q: How do I wrap this around my pipe?

A: If the heating cable is the same length as the pipe, install the heating cable linearly along the pipe on a lower half of the pipe, for instance in an 8 oโ€™clock or 4 oโ€™clock position. If the length of the cable selected is longer than the pipe, use a spiral method to install the heating cable along the entire pipe. If there is excess cable at the pipe end, you can double back along the pipe.
