Keep the mechanism greased, and remove the hitch when not being used. A protective ball cover would also be a very wise thing to use. They seize up in Canada after a couple of seasons.
As advertised. I have used this system before on my previous car. The "quick disconnect" type ball makes people nervous. It is fail-safe as the locking pin cannot disengage with the trailer on. The system is very convenient to haul various hitch sizes in a pinch and not a lot of storage for the balls are required. Used it for snowmobiles double trailers and utility trailers (3000 lbs).
It's very convenient because I don't have to carry around multiple hitches with three different sized balls on them!
I've tried other brand of interchangeable balls and this set is the best by far. After several months of hard dirty use, I can't see how this set would ever jam or freeze up. Swapping balls is easy. Highly recommended.
Finally, no more tools or multiple receivers to carry around when switching trailers. Been using these for a couple months now, and I'm still very happy. Something I didn't realize when I ordered: even if you somehow forget to push the locking pin down, just putting the trailer on the ball will hold the pin down and lock the ball in place. It made me feel much more comfortable once I figured that out.
