Kept the rain out, offered lots of fresh air with the liftgate open, kept the bugs out, and gave us extra space for the dogs and gear, and a dry roof for cooking. I was able to drive in and out with it in place by marking on the ground where my rear tires were, and just backing into the same spot when we returned.

Keep the bugs away.
I wanted a place to sit when the sun goes down and the bugs come out. It works for that. Also provides ventilation for the van.

This hatchback tent came in pretty handy.
We took this on a 4 week road trip, stopping in campgrounds along the way. It sets up pretty easily, and keeps the bugs out effectively. It gives our small dog an extra area to lounge in, also. Having the rain fly gives full privacy when desired.
