I wanted something simple and decent priced to use for my basement door while my husband is away at night. I have vinyl flooring outside my basement door and the door stop doesn't slide when the door is pushed against it. It fits perfectly under the door and the alarm, which is plenty loud enough to wake me from across the house, sounds before the door is opened even an inch. It's not likely that anyone will break in through my basement windows but I sleep better knowing I'll be awake to defend myself if they do.
