I have a late-model RV that doesn't have any frills and doesn't even have some things considered essential for modern life, like USB chargers. This USB outlet was super easy to hook up in my RV and looks nice too. It works well for charging my phone and other USB accessories. All in all, I'm really happy with this product!
My first surprise was there were two charging ports rather than one! The second, was that the description of the port is exactly what you get. Installing these will require little to no cutting into my RV. I just need to take off an existing 12V appliance, locate the wiring run so that I can splice into it with the wires coming out of the new port, and then screw the port onto the wall. Since so many chargers are USB C these days, having both a normal USB and a USB C choice on each port is great. So good to have the choice so you know you are covered no matter what. I look forward to using this in my RV as I'm sure it will suit my needs to a tee!! I would recommend this to anyone with an older RV that doesn't have these types of charger ports in it.
My new RV only has one USB plug and 1 12 volt plug. I was looking for an elegant way to install more and this surface-mount USB power outlet is just what I was looking for. It has a very low profile on the surface and requires only a small access hole to pass the wires to where there is power. Before I broke out the drill and wiring kit I simply put the plug on a 12-volt cell to test it and my voltage tester shows it transforms plenty of power to what you plug in. The best thing about this is the on/off switch. It is only consuming a tiny bit of power but if you want to stop a parasitic draw or turn out the LED, the power switch makes this a great choice to install in your rig. Definitely worth drilling a hole!
I'm adding these to my trailer in order to have more charging ports. They have been easy to install. Drill one small hole to run the wires and tighten two screws. My Samsung S21 fe recognizes the USB-C port as a super fast charger and draws the full 20 watts. So far I haven't noticed these chargers getting hot.
This is a nice little 12V to USB and USBC converter. It mounts very cleanly to a wall and even has a flip-down faceplate to hide the USB ports when not in use. There are some 12V to USB's that I want to always be on. But for this one, I like that it defaults to off.- It does have blue lights when the switch is on. They aren't bright, but they may bother some if they are near where you're sleeping, etc.
