A: It is designed to meet the IRC Code when installed properly. Some municipalities will add additional requirements above and beyond the IRC code so check your local codes to determine if this solution is appropriate for you. It is also important to note that window wells that exceed 60” (5 ft) of depth will require ladder extension kit(s) to be compliant with the IRC.

Q: I have a galvanized steel window well. Will using this aluminum ladder cause corrosion since they are dissimilar metals?

A: Sometimes dissimilar metals can cause electrolysis to occur but generally the presence of water is necessary for this to happen. It has been our experience in the 20 plus years of manufacturing the ladders that corrosion has not been a problem.

Q: Our code requires these to be 12 inch wide steps or more. Do you happen to know what the width of this window well ladder is?
